Currently the club’s chairman was a promising Junior Steeplechaser who, following a traffic accident, which left him partially disabled, took up the throws. He was a competitor in the Atlanta Para Olympics Discus event

Started running January 2010 when the weather was too cold and icy for my other sport of cycling. Wanted to get fit and lose a bit of weight, both of which I have achieved.

Always believed I could not run, because I got out of breath so quickly. Have learned to go more slowly and am now fit enough to enjoy it.

I took up running in 2004 with the support from my friend Pamela who has got me where I am today. If it wasn't for her, I'll be stll sat on the sofa thinking about it!! I started racing in 2005 and being hooked since!!

started late to running mainly to lose weight before turning 40.Used to attend barton athletics many moons ago (school days).Only a few in the club when i returned im a very slow runner but thanks to others in club have done a few races 2 being 1.2 marathons and the weight came off too.
