The Deepdale Dash & Fun Run 2019
Today Barton & District Athletics Club held it’s 10th anniversary Deepdale Dash 10k race.
It was a fantastic turn out by all, with a record of 600 entries, selling out in record
time of 49 minutes. The Barton Club itself made a solid showing of 83 members.
Conditions couldn’t have been better. Sunny and still with a slight bite in the air.
Also partial road closures made the route easy to navigate alongside the amazing
volunteer marshalls and support from the locals all the way round. The water station
manned by Barton’s finest guys and girls was a welcome sight just after the 5km mark. Thank you!
The race was won in a time of 34:59 by Richard Harris of Wolds Veterans RC, and the lead female
Sophie Lee of City of Hull AC with a time of 39:35. Congratulations to both. Scott Marrison
was the first home from Barton & District AC in a time of 37:08 and first female Gemma Bell with a time of 44:01.
There were 550 finishers overall with lots of smiles at the finish. Lots of personal bests
and achievements. Well done to all!
The fun run was also well received with a great turnout for the 1km and 2km races.
Lots of smiles, enthusiasm and personal bests, even with the soggy ground conditions
of the Baysgarth School field. Well deserved medals were awarded to all finishers.
A fab reusable goody (cool) bag was provided at the end of the 10k by Wren kitchens and the famous
hoody, this year’s colour being blue with yellow text – Barton’s very own colour scheme. Thank you to
all the sponsors, organisers, volunteers.
A brilliant event, well organised and a highlight of the season!
