Turning 70 over stiles

Turning 70 over stiles

Our long-distance lovers Sue Oldfield and Tracy Chaplin headed to the hills of Yorkshire to celebrate Sue’s 70th birthday on 16th August. And not for a leisurely walk, in true “Chapfield” style – they of course incorporated an event to help celebrate the milestone.

The 6 Dales Trail event, organised by Punk Panter Events is a trail running event that takes place on the Six Dales trail, a scenic route through Yorkshire’s hills and fields and include sections with varied technical terrian, cow fields and nettles passing through locations liek Swinsty Reservoir and the Washburn Valley.

The event offers race distances of half marathon, 20 miles, 32 miles and 50 miles and takes runners from the market town of Otley on various out and back routes.

Tracy and Sue opted for the 32 mile ultra on the day with Sue taking the FV70 crown to boot!

Kieren Iannidinardi also made an appearance in the half marathon distance event and finished third overall!

We have a substantial contingent of ultramarathoners at Barton & District AC and I’m sure they have advice and guidance should you want to dip your toe in the water of longer distance trail running.
