The picturesque village of Broughton played host to another fantastic edition of the Broughton Burn 10k on Sunday 7th September.
The route features rolling hills and a blend of road and trail offering both scenic charm and demanding uneven stretches. Almost 170 participants took part, with the proceeds from the race going towards supporting Alzheimer’s charities making the day not only a celebration of sport but also of community spirit.
Elliot Stones of Lincoln Wellington AC was the victor of the race in 32:59 and Laura Purbrick of Scunthorpe & District RC finished the female race in 45:04, both beating the course records. Local Barton & District AC had a strong all-female representation on the day – Caron Adamson, Chloe Blenkinsop, Ronda Rushby, Janice Clipson, Fiona Copper, Sarah Cook, Georgia Bullivent, Helen Foulston, Martina Hodgson and Eleanor Georgiou.
