Mountain Miles & Views: Jon Wilson Takes on RunThrough Lake District Trails 20K

On Saturday 5th April, Barton & District AC’s Jon Wilson took on a true test of grit and hill strength — the RunThrough Lake District Trails 20K, part of the brand-new Ultra Trails event series.

Based in Keswick, the heart of the Lake District National Park, this challenging race offered an unforgettable adventure across one of Britain’s most iconic trail-running landscapes. Starting and finishing at Keswick School, the 20K route followed the ridgeline above Derwent Water, traversing Maiden Moor, descending into the Borrowdale Valley, and climbing back towards the finish.

Far from your average trail race, this one mixed technical terrain, rocky climbs, rolling ridges, and descents that required every ounce of concentration. The elevation gain was significant, but the views across the Lakes made every step worth it.

Despite the rugged conditions and demanding course profile, Jon Wilson represented Barton & District AC superbly. His performance was a brilliant display of endurance and experience on the trails — well done, Jon!

As trail running continues to grow in popularity within the club, it’s great to see BADAC colours being worn in some of the UK’s most dramatic terrain. Whether it’s 20K or 50K, flat road or fells, our members keep stepping up.
